SOULSPEAK/Sarasota Poetry Theatre

SOULSPEAK/Sarasota Poetry Theatre was founded in 1992 for the purpose of promoting expression through all forms of poetry and making contemporary poetry more accessible to the public. It features both local and nationally known poets, singers and musicians, and presents poetry in the form of highly original collaborations.

SOULSPEAK also conducts workshops and poetry contests on all levels and for all types of poetry on both a local and national basis.  Extensive poetry outreach programs for young poets and Therapeutic SOULSPEAK programs for at-risk youth and adults in therapy are also a part of SOULSPEAK's ongoing activities.

SOULSPEAK's Sarasota Poetry Theatre Press conducts the Edda Poetry Chapbook Competition for Women and is a significant publisher of chapbooks. It provides access to chapbooks, manuscripts, articles and essays as part of its mission. Many of the materials are available for download free of charge.

SOULSPEAK STUDIO  is a recording studio dedicated to recording poets working in an interdisciplinary mode of speech, song and music.Such poets are invited to inquire about recording their work at SOULSPEAK STUDIO.
