CANTOS DEL NORTE is a unique folk recording of the bittersweet soul music of the people of Alamos. It was made by poet Justin Spring during a visit in the winter of 2003. Founded in colonial times, the town, which is nestled high in the mountains of the Sonoran desert, is so remote that it has retained its slow, lyrical, soulful pace ever since the silver mines went dry near the end of the nineteenth century.
